Our Chiropractor in Lancaster, CA
Allied Physical Medicine is pleased to feature back pain treatment in their chiropractic practice. Back pain is a common ailment that chiropractic care can be highly effective in treating. There are hundreds of different traditional medical treatments for back pain, and for a reason. Back pain is a complex problem to treat because everyone's body is a little different, and everyone comes to their pain in a different way. Traditional medicine doesn't offer direct manipulation at a pain site short of surgery. Even the Journal of the American Medical Association acknowledges chiropractic as an effective back pain treatment modality. Chiropractic is unique because it is a hands-on, natural, drug-free, logical, and direct method of treatment. It treats the site of the pain, and all of the surrounding areas, because of no joint works in isolation.
There's No Mystery to Chiropractic Care
People who are not familiar with chiropractic care may find it a little intimidating at first because they don't know how it works. It's a relatively simple, easy-to-understand process. The initial visit runs much like an ordinary doctor's appointment. A medical history, physical examination, and possibly lab tests or x-rays or an MRI as needed are standard so that the chiropractor can get a good picture of what is going on inside a patient. Treatment involves applying a method of muscle relaxation. This can include massage, ultrasound therapy, electrical stimulation, or traction. This loosens the muscles in the treatment area to make it easier for the chiropractor to work. The chiropractor then directly adjusts or manipulates, the vertebral joints by positioning the patient's body to isolate the joints and then applying short, pulsed pressure until the bones move into their proper place. The goal of adjustments is to achieve spinal decompression. Chiropractors work to achieve alignment in as much as the body as possible, because of damage and pain impact more than just the painful area, causing imbalance and muscle tension that echoes throughout the body. Good balance and alignment in the body help to facilitate healing as a range of motion, the efficiency of movement, movement of fluid, and reduction of inflammation take effect.
